From Then Until Now…

Yoga Tree has a rich history, starting back in 2002 when it opened as the first Bikram yoga studio in Melbourne. Offering 90-minute classes in a heated room, it quickly became a popular destination for yoga enthusiasts seeking the benefits of this unique practice.

A couple of years later, Powerflow was added to the schedule, providing practitioners with a dynamic and challenging alternative. All classes maintained the 90-minute format and were conducted in a heated environment, creating a consistent and focused experience for students.

As demand grew and the yoga community evolved, Yoga Tree underwent its first renovation in 2012. This marked a significant milestone, reflecting the studio’s commitment to providing a welcoming and supportive space for practitioners of all levels. A third practice room was added, allowing for more class offerings and accommodating the growing diversity of styles.

Fast forward another decade, and Yoga Tree embarked on its third lease on life with a freshen up in 2022. This not only refreshed the studio’s appearance but also reflected its evolution. Today, Yoga Tree proudly offers five styles of yoga and caters to practitioners of all levels, from beginners to seasoned yogis.

Over the years, Yoga Tree has seen over 10,000 Yogis and Yoginis begin their yoga journey within its walls. Many of these students have gone on to become teachers as well as studio owners, this is a testament to the positive impact Yoga Tree has had on the wider yoga community.

Yoga Tree has been a beacon of light in the Melbourne yoga community for over two decades. Since its inception 22 years ago, the studio is a hub for wellness, hosting hundreds of workshops and events that cater to a diverse range of practices and traditions.

From the discipline of Bikram yoga to the transformative power of Jivamukti and Kundalini, Yoga Tree has offered a wide array of practices to suit individual needs. Beyond postural yoga, the studio also delves into the realms of sound healing, Kirtans, guided meditations, and a myriad of courses designed to deepen one’s understanding of yoga and holistic wellbeing.

Yoga Tree has hosted teachers from around the world and across Australia. Visiting teachers bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience, enriching the community with new perspectives and insights.

In addition to our in-studio services, Yoga Tree also offers local and international retreats. These retreats are carefully curated with the needs of our community at the forefront, ensuring that each experience is meaningful and transformative.

Our retreat offerings are as unique as the voices of our teachers, each bringing their own perspective and expertise to create a truly enriching experience. One of our most memorable retreats was last year’s journey to India, where participants had the incredible opportunity to learn from none other than the Dalai Lama himself.

Described as a once-in-a-lifetime experience by those who attended, the retreat in India was a profound and unforgettable journey into the heart of spirituality and mindfulness. We strive to offer retreats that not only provide relaxation and rejuvenation but also offer a deeper connection to oneself and the world around us.

At its core, Yoga Tree is not just a studio; it is a community. The studio’s ethos revolves around supporting and uplifting its members, fostering a sense of belonging and connection. Whether through a friendly smile at the front desk or a supportive word from a fellow practitioner, Yoga Tree is a place where everyone is welcomed and embraced.

Above all, Yoga Tree is dedicated to assisting individuals on their physical and spiritual journeys. The studio’s commitment to holistic wellbeing is evident in every aspect of its operations, from the classes offered to the community initiatives it supports. Yoga Tree is more than just a place to practice yoga; it is a sanctuary for the body, mind, and soul.
