This course is a progressive 4-class series. You will be introduced to key postures to safely move into a deeper practice.

Each class will feature a variety of different techniques, from hands-on adjustments, partner exercises, to use of props, employed to cultivate greater stability, and confidence in the postural practice through sound foundational alignment.

What we will cover in the Intermediate Yoga Course:

• Week 1 – Strengthening Roots: Developing core-stability in arm balancing postures, energetics of bandhas. Exploring backbends.

• Week 2 – Using your Branches: Arm Balancing in transitions, progressions through backbends, foundational inversion alignment. (focus side plank variations)

• Week 3 – Expanding your Canopy: Intro to Flight session, preparation for practice of Inversions. (Focus tripod headstand)

• Week 4 – Securing your Branches: Progressions to variations, mechanics of binds, course recapitulation sequence.

Your Teacher: Hamford McDonald

Throughout his time as a teacher and facilitator Hamford has completed over 1,000 hours across a wide spectrum of different styles, disciplines, and movement modalities, including Jivamutki, mat Pilates, Yin Yoga, Barre Attack, Applied Anatomy & Yoga Physiology, Mindfulness, Origins of Alignment & Somatic Movement, as well as Advanced Asana sequencing, and the Ashtanga Primary Series.

His classes are rooted in the Ashtanga discipline of breath-guided movement, with dynamic, and alignment-focused sequencing allowing practitioners to explore the edges of their practice with balanced integration.

At the crux of Hamfords teaching methodology is the aim to improve whole-body functionality, and the kinaesthetic awareness that allows students to be self-guided in utilising these techniques for optimal movement on and off the mat.
