Hi, I’m Ritu

I grew up immersed in Vedic philosophy. My earliest memory of being taught yogic breath work was by my grandfather, on his rooftop in Calcutta, around the age of 3. My practice grew from these roots to include all aspects of yoga. 

Authenticity to practice, is the truth that I wish to communicate via teachings on the mat.  

I am delighted to be able to share a lifetime of knowledge with all who are open and willing to journey towards happiness.

Our goal at Yoga Tree Elsternwick is to educate and encourage. To help people explore the connection between mind body and spirit, using yoga as a key to self realisation.

Developing a yogic practice allows individuals to reach a level of self awareness that moves beyond mind body identification and a high level of self appreciation. 

The YT team is dedicated to supporting you through your personal development. We encourage our teachers to nurture their own voice to guide you on your path naturally.

Colin began practicing yoga in 2002 in NYC while pursuing a career in theatre. Colin has taught for many different studios in Southern California, including Triad Yoga, Yoga Room, and Equinox Fitness and Yogaworks. Colin has trained with with some of yoga’s most sought after teachers including, Sean Corne, Baron Baptiste, Pattabhi Jois, and Shiva Rea. 

Stephanie J

Stephanie has practiced yoga for over eighteen years and  believes yoga has the ability to uplift and revitalise us, allowing us to develop a deeper connection with ourselves and surroundings. A trained opera singer, she might even treat you to a little sound meditation in your savasana.


Brenton's light-hearted, approach is serious in its intent to share the joy of yoga with all. 

Creatively sequenced, anatomically informed movement, breathing techniques, meditation and yoga nidra are offered. Explore, enjoy, breathe, be!


Rachel’s passion for yoga comes through in her teaching and the connection she establishes with her students. She shares this ancient practice of yoga so her students can reap the benefits.

Trained in both vinyasa and yin yoga, Rachel’s life has been enriched by the learning and teaching of philosophy, pranayama (breath work), meditation and asana (physical practice). 


Mike has trained with many Australian and International teachers such as Matthew Sweeney, Gregor Maehle, Monica Gauci, and Maty Ezraty. His other passion is in music. As a guitarist, writer and performer, he has a particular interest in improvisation. 

Mike’s classes have an emphasis on the connection of breath in flow, to create stillness in mind, and awareness in movement.


Dawn has a 500 hour YTT certifications as well as Level 1 & 2 in Yin Yoga teaching, Dawn continues to attend trainings regularly. 

Dawn’s classes are about breath, movement, safe anatomical alignment, awareness and joy. Her aim is to help people find their own journey with Yoga and become connected with themselves in order to feel alive mentally & physically.


Luke’s classes are energising and strong while also connecting and calming the mind. His nurturing presence allows students to be supported and delve deep into their practice. With an aim for his students to cultivate the same devotion, passion and inquiry into yoga that has transformed his life.


I reckon I would be nuts if it wasn’t for yoga! I began practicing in 2000 as a way to counteract running and gym sessions. The rest, as they say, is history. I attended Bikram training in LA in 2002 and have been teaching ever since. I love the Bikram sequence and how amazing you feel at the end of class (and beyond) – it really does sort your head out. I enjoy other yoga styles as well (yin and power flow are fantastic) but I always come back to Bikram – it’s like a big comfortable armchair for me. I like to teach a challenging class intertwined with compassion and a bit of humour – it is only a yoga class after all.

I did my Teacher Training with Power Living and a new path in my life started. Each year I spend time towards my own studies with amazing teachers around the world such as Sarah Powers and Rod Stryker.


Mili discovered yoga in 2002, keeping a regular practice to maintain a balanced lifestyle. She has studied in Los Angeles, New York and recently completed her Yin teacher training in Sydney. Mili teaches a variety of yoga styles, bringing an element of fun to every class. “Use your smile to change the world – But don’t let the world change your smile”


Keran has been involved in the health and Fitness industry for 32 years, working as an aerobics /gym instructor, personal trainer and masseuse encouraging others toward a healthy and fit lifestyle. Keran discovered yoga about 17 years ago practising off and on then realised the benefits physically and emotionally it then became part of her own lifestyle thus reducing a lifetime of back pain.

Wanting to continue her love for teaching, she completed Baron Baptiste’s Level 1 Power Vinyasa Teacher Training in Sydney early 2010. Feeling more grounded and stronger, Keran encourages students to be open to healing as “your body is built to heal itself” and to create a flow of energy within through movement.


I took my first Bikram Yoga class back in the end of 2009. Straight away I felt the positive effects and knew that I wanted to continue with the practice and become a teacher. I went to teacher training in April 2011 in LA and it is by far the best life experience I’ve had. I love the heat –  it’s great way to cleanse the body, detoxify and is a great whole body work out. Although it’s the same 26 postures, I always find it a challenge. Practicing the yoga has taught me more patience, determination, self control and is a big stress reliever.


Mahan Kaur Shrestha (Amanda) – Mahan leads Yin Yoga and is a Kundalini Yoga student, teacher and meditative healer. Having a background in fitness, massage (anatomy/fascia geek) and TCM, yoga was a natural progression.

Mahan has been practicing Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan since 2001, and began teaching in 2006. Mahan has lived in Kathmandu Nepal and is now in Melbourne Australia.

Her class are focused on deep healing of the sled thru meditation, breath, mantra and relaxation.


Maria has been practicing yoga since she was 16.

“From very early on in my practice I thought about teaching Bikram Yoga but it took me three years to build the courage and faith in myself that I could teach and share this yoga with others. I love this style, the sequence, and I know that this yoga can really open you up and change you physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.”

Maria graduated in Fall 2011, Los Angeles and is dedicated to teaching the Bikram sequence.


Bronwyn studied Hatha Yoga and Meditation through the Vitality Clinic in Bendigo. Having come from a busy corporate background she understands the benefits of finding stillness and strength in the mind through both yoga and meditation. These two practices have changed her life.  Yogic Philosophy, Spirituality and the powerful energy of nature to heal and bring equilibrium to ones body mind and spirit is her focus. 

Bronwyn enjoys bringing awareness to her students of how to take the practice of yoga and meditation off the mat and into the world.
